ADAS - (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems)
Designed to provide a safe and comfortable drive, ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) are increasingly more common in the latest generation of vehicles.
At MT Motors Leeds we are able to repair these sophisticated, active safety devices for many different vehicle brands.
It is estimated that in 2020, 50% of all newly registered cars will have some form of driver assistance system fitted, with countries in Europe surpassing worldwide averages for ADAS system installs.
The advances we are now seeing are in electronic technology available on newer vehicles such as:
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Lane Departure Warning
- Park Assist
- Adaptive Headlights
- Hazard Recognition
- Blind Spot Detection
- Fatigue Warning
These new ADAS rely on the vehicle having the steering geometry correctly set and the radar camera and its systems calibrated using ADAS calibration equipment so everything functions as it was designed to do.
When should ADAS systems be calibrated?
Depending on where the ADAS radar sensor is mounted will affect when you will need the system calibrated. The sensors can be mounted to any of the following:
- Roofs header
- Rearview mirror
- Front grill
- Inside surface of the windshield
If any of these mounting options are moved, replaced or damaged then calibration is needed.
